And that’s another one gone. A real mixed time last week. I had the week off work and was full of enthusiasm for hitting the range and course hard and starting to tick off some of the rounds I want to play this year and hopefully even some of the challenges. Unfortunately what it turned out to be was a frustrating mess of practice and nearly quitting that made me question my sanity on more than one occasion! Continue reading “Week Review 6”
Week 5 all done and dusted. A week without playing but that did include a couple of range sessions and a half hour lesson. Things are going really well with my full swing although i do have to keep reminding myself to control my tempo to allow the release of my hands to happen at the right time. Well, not bad, it only took me 4 weeks to fall off my own schedule! But onward we continue and despite not getting a practice session in until Saturday due to bad weather and being ill when I did play I scored well. I have some time off work this week and the whole week off after that so I’m hoping the weather will co-operate at least a couple of times and let me get out and play 18 holes to see where I stand. Another trip to the very nice Furzeley Golf Course and the conditions were slightly better this time although still very much in UK winter golf conditions with all tees off mats. After a poor practice session beforehand the actual on course performance turned out pretty good. I didn’t really manage to capitalize on my good shots but still managed to take a good chunk of shots off last times score.
A bit more active this week and that started with a session on a Flightscope simulator. Being a techie and watching a lot of the Youtube pros use the simulators all the time I had really been looking forward to getting to have a go on one myself. I did some research and found a place near me that had one and booked myself in. I was looking to do some scientific club yardage testing.
Following on from the round review on Saturday it’s time for another summary of whats gone on this week. I managed only 1 session at the range after work during the week but did attend the regular roll-up lesson on Saturday and played 9 holes after (which included my first birdie of 2017) so still managing to get some golf time in around the weather.
And now the second round of the year is completed too. This one was at my current home course but the conditions and the outcome were fairly similar to my round last week. This time the ground was not quite as wet but there were still a few temporary tees in place. The weather was pretty clear which meant it was cold and the wind that was around tended to be a bit blustery but nothing unusual for the time of year.
